The entire PC software industry, including Adobe, Google, Microsoft, and Mozilla, (and probably other big players like Apple too) collaborated in a multi-year effort to render a commonly-deployed Web technology useless. Switching topics slightly, I find this whole Flash imbroglio striking. But even the catalog now needs a local proxy for IE8 to connect, since it switched to modern security protocols.

About the only site that works better under IE is Microsoft's Update Catalog, since you can select multiple updates with IE then download them all with a single click (other browsers require separate clicks to download each update). IE9/ Vista SP2 is practically worthless for most sites of 2021, including MSFN Knowing Microsoft, it's likely there's a registry entry somewhere to turn the bloody thing off, but I don't know that for sure. But of course, if you do have a working Flash version installed, the Web pages do work, so the warning bar is just a nuisance. Since it was added after Flash EOL, my guess is that it was intended to tell users why these Web pages don't work any more. You can dismiss the warning, and at least as of the July update roll-ups, if you have a working ActiveX Flash version installed, Flash content still works. It's not a time bomb just a warning bar that pops up if you browse to a site that uses Flash content, reminding you (once again) that Flash is EOL. IE 8 for XP hasn't been updated since PosReady '09 EOS, so no change for XP users). So, gentle reader, if you want a fantastic dinner in a Milanese garden, I can recommend Zelo.I suspect very few folks use Internet Explorer with Flash anymore, but for those few, last March Microsoft added a "security feature" to IE 11 (and I think IE 9 for Server 2008 perhaps a Vista user can confirm or refute that. And, as Mrs Magellan observed, in a much bigger and nicer garden than the originally planned venue. The story ends happily as we were immediately ushered into the Four Seasons garden where we were seated at an outdoor table in their Zelo restaurant. We waited a further ten minutes (total waiting time 30 minutes) and then returned to the Four Seasons, miffed and, of course, hungry.

Promising.īut then the chap in charge said that, whilst we could eat indoors, a table outside would entail a wait of ten minutes. On arrival, we were told that they had the reservation. It was a warm summer evening and Mrs Magellan and I looked forward to our dinner al fresco in the garden mentioned in the promisingly named eatery. The excellent Four Seasons recommended this place and made the booking on my behalf about a month before. I would never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone !! It is VERY overrated. The only part of our meal we loved was dessert which was a passionfruit mousse of some kind. The waiter sent the manager to us who apologized for the cold food but did nothing more. Our two pasta dishes were served ice cold and tasted mediocre at best even after they brought out new dishes. Four! We sat with empty wine glasses for about 40 minutes. Some examples would be having to ask for times for more sparkling water. Our waiter was nice man but just a terrible server.
We opted to dine indoors where it felt like a sauna, and five minutes after being seated, we watched her escort two people to one of those tables “reserved for four.” Both my daughter and I were dressed appropriately in evening dresses so we could not imagine why we were made to feel unwelcome. When we pointed out that there were three open tables in the center, she said they were reserved for four people or more. I were first greeted by a rude and snobbish hostess who proceeded to offer us only a table in the back corner of the garden. It was also the priciest dinner, which has nothing to do with the one star.
